The type species (holotype) of the genus Spongiochloris is Spongiochloris spongiosa (Vischer) R.C.Starr.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pharao llanoensis (Bischoff & H.C.Bold) Darienko & Pröschold.
