General Environment
This is a marine species.
Description
Sporophyte composed of a lanceolate blade,
flattened stipe and discoidal holdfast; the blade
thin, membranous, up to 2 m in length, with obvious
thickened rim at the transition zone forming
a raised ""V," without undulations, filled with
fine, loose filaments including trumpet-shaped
hyphae; the stipe rectangular, solid, slightly
translucent, reaching 1 m in length; the holdfast
semidiscoidal, up to 0.15 m in diameter. No
mucilage organs or hairs present. Fertile sporophyte
unknown.
