Taxonomic notes
Selivanova & Zhigadlova (1997: 17) cite this as a synonym of Hommersandia palmatifolia (Tokida) Perestenko ex Selivanova & Zhigadlova. Gabrielson, Widdowson & Lindstrom (2006: 148, footnote): "Critical examination of the type material of Pugetia palmatifolia Tokida [=Hommersandia palmatifolia (Tokida) Perestenko] from Saghalien is required to confirm the conspecificity of this species with eastern Pacific H. maximicarpa, as proposed by Perestenko (1986) and followed by Wynne & Heine (1992)." - (24 August 2006) - G.M.
