Mason, 1953: 341; Collector : N.L. Gardener 655 (INA). Lectotype: TRH, Gardner 655 (UC, 739464) on Acmaea mitra shell (lectotype chosen by Mason 1953); shallow subtidal (Steneck & Paine, 1986).

Taxonomic note
DNA sequencing of the lectotype specimen of Pseudolithphyllum whidbeyense revealed that this name had been misapplied and instead belongs to an undescribed coralline species in the Hapalidiales (Hind et el., 2018). - (21 February 2019) - G.M. Guiry
