Distributional note
"The only COI sequence of Pserrata available in genBank (AY970640) comes from a specimen from the Pacific coast of Canada. This is actually a different species, P. filicina A. Agardh, and is correctly referred to a s such in BOLD (Gary Saunders, personal communication)." (Rueness, 2010: 383). Rueness also notes that four geographically widely separated specimens from eastern Canada, temporarily labeled as P. serrata species 1 in BOLD , have COI sequences identical with P. gunneri from Europe, strongly suggesting that this species in fact is present on western Atlantic coasts. - (26 February 2013) - G.M. Guiry

Habitat notes
mostly found on rocks, less often on macroalgae in low intertidal zone, as well as subtidal to 20 m (Bruce and Saunders, 2016: 47). - (07 February 2017) - G.M. Guiry
Found at depths of 10-12 m (Selivanova & Zhigadlova 2009). - (10 May 2010) - G.M. Guiry
