Distributional notes
This species has been introduced into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 125), probably by shipping, being first found at Algiers, Algeria in 1937. - (04 November 2015) - M.D. Guiry
"We agree with Athanasiadis (1996: 104) who raised Antithamnionella elegans var. boergesenii Cormaci et Furnari, described by Cormaci & Furnari (1988b: 345), to the rank of species. It should be noted that, in agreement with Cormaci & Furnari (op. cit.), we refer to this species the thalli described and illustrated by Feldmann- Mazoyer (1941: 267, as Antithamnion elegans) showing branchlets in whorls of 3-4 (sometimes 5)."
