Taxonomic note
Gabrielson, Widdowson & Lindstrom (2004: 130, footnote) remark that in C. obovata, C. borealis and C. angustata from the Pacific coast of North America the "...characters used to distinguish amongst these species appears insufficient to us and need further investigation. If only one species is recognised, C. obovata is the oldest validly published name". Is it certain that C. hibernica Guiry & L.M. Irvine should also be included in this complex. - (21 August 2006) - G.M. Guiry
