Type locality: Port Stanvac, South Australia; (Womersley 1998: 178) Holotype: Clarke & Engler; 14 April 1979; on bryozoans on jetty pylons, 3-12 m deep; AD; A50327 (Womersley 1998: 178)
Origin of Species Name
Participle B (Latin), spreading, outspread, diverging from the axis at almost 90 degrees (Stearn 1983).

Distributional note
