Abstract:
Since the Gomphoneis tetrastigmata species complex, which has four stigmata, including G. okunoi and G. pseudookunoi described by Tuji (2005), both from Japan, shares morphological characteristics with Gomphonella olivacea except in having four stigmata, and belong to the same clade in the phylogenetic trees based on rbcL and 18S rRNA. Thus, these taxa and related taxa are transferred to the genus Gomphonella.
