Description: Frustules in ribbon-like colonies. Valves lanceolate, hyaline with convex margins. Valve face with wide sterna. Uniseriate striae in the margin of the valve face and on the mantle. Valve margin with spines or ridge. Two apical slits per valve apex. Several open bands same in width.
