Description: Thallus calcified, dichotomously branched, with terete axes. Cortical filaments sparingly dichotomously branched, with distal portions unbranched for several cells except when bearing spermatangia. Spermatangia forming in tufts arising from distal cells of cortical filaments. When mature, lower cells of spermatangia-bearing filaments becoming modified and appearing similar to vegetative cells. Carpogonial branches lateral on medial cortical cells, with constituent cells remaining discrete following fertilization. Gonimoblasts obconical, subtended by a loose, cup-like involucre of sterile filaments.
