The type species (lectotype) of the genus Kallymenia is Kallymenia reniformis (Turner) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Psaromenia berggrenii (J.Agardh) D'Archino, W.A.Nelson & Zuccarello.

Type locality: Ad Novam Zelandiam (Berggren); (Agardh 1876: 221) Holoytpe: S. Berggern; 1874; LD; 24733-4 Notes: "Bay of Islands, New Zealand" is cited as the holotype locality by D’Archino, W.A. Nelson & Zuccarello (2010: 77). ISOTYPES: WELT A1516 (Bay of Islands), Lindaeur Alg. Exsicc. No. 118 as Dactylymenia berggrenii.

Eponomy
Named for Sven Berggren (1837–1917), Swedish botanist, explorer and professor at Lund University 1883-1902.
