The type species (holotype) of the genus Surirella is Surirella striatula Turpin.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Campylodiscus giffenii Lobban & J.S.Park.

Type locality: "Kidd's Beach" [Cape Province, South Africa]; (Giffen 1967: 286) Notes: "Typus: praeparatum No.197 in collectione GIFFEN, Fort Hare, provincia Capensis. Iconotypus: figurae nostrae No. 121-123."
