Type locality: Helgoland, Germany; (Pringsheim 1874: 166) Notes: Neotype: HELG, with propagules (Isotypes of S. furcigera var. saxatilis Kuckuck), collected on 27 September 1893 by Kuckuck; Type locality: Oldehovenbrunnen, Heligoland (Keum et al. 2001: 270).
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), alone, by itself, solitary (Stearn 1983).
