The type species (lectotype) of the genus Delesseria is Delesseria sanguinea (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Paraglossum lancifolium (J.Agardh) J.Agardh.

Nomenclatural note
Some authors cite Delesseria sanguinea var. lancifolia J.D.Hooker & Harvey as the basionym of this name, but M.J. Wynne (e-mail, 8 October 2011), writes: "... J. Agardh (1872) listed "Delesseria sanguine var. lancifolia" with a query and because of that query, it can't be treated as the basionym.
