Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Fragilaria aequalis Heiberg.

Wesenberg-Lund (W.-Ld); Østrup collection; C 3601 (Tuji & Williams 2019: 271) Notes: According to Tuji & Williams (2019: 271) the lectotype designated by Lange-Bertalot (in Krammer & Lange-Bertalot, 1991: 450) should be considered an epitype. Secondary epitype (designated by Tuji & Williams, 2019: 271) = Tuji & Williams 208, fig. 32; raw material 148.1 (Østrup collection in C, see Tuji & Williams 2008, figs 36-42).
