Type Information
Type locality: "Ad insulam Sitcha" [Sitka, Alaska]; (Postels & Ruprecht 1840: 20 [bis]) Type: LE; (Johansen 1969: 61) Notes: "Type" at LE is mentioned by Johansen (1969: 61) who was "privileged to see" who expressed some doubt as to the origin of the material as collections have not "revealed this species north of the Queen Charlotte Islands, British Columbia." Its absence at Sitka was confirmed by Gabrielson & al. (2011: 312). As Postels & Ruprecht (1840: 20 [bis]) mentioned only a single location is is reasonable to regard the LE specimen as the holotype.
