The type species (lectotype) of the genus Fragilaria is Fragilaria pectinalis (O.F.Müller) Lyngbye.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Fragilariforma marylandica M.B.Edlund, B.Laub, P.A.Siver, P.B.Hamilton, & E.A.Morales.
