Type Information
Type locality: ‘Insulae Stoechades’ [Îles d’ Hyères, France, Mediterranean],; (Linnaeus 1758: 806) Lectotype: collector unknown; UPS; herb. Burser; vol. XX: 72 (Irvine & Chamberlain 1994: 56) Notes: "In the protologue, Linnaeus (1758, p. 806) indicated ‘Habitat in Oceano Europæo’. Whether this includes the Mediterranean is uncertain because, for other species, Linnaeus (1758, pp. 131, 283, 815, 819, for example) cited ‘Habitat in M. Mediterraneo’. The type locality was erroneously listed as the ‘Atlantic coast of Norway’ by Millar and Kraft (1993, p. 14)." (Harvey, Woelkerling & Reviers 2020: 269).
