Taxonomic note
Lawson & John (1987) make the following remarks: "For nearly a quarter of a century this name has been used for Codium plants collected along the West African coast. ... The West African material was first appreciated as being a new species by Dr. P. Silva who gave it the name of Codium guinneëse but never apparently published a description of it. We retained his name when validating the taxon." - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
