This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Silvetia compressa (J.Agardh) E.SerrĂ£o, T.O.Cho, S.M.Boo & Brawley.

Adjective (Latin), fastigiate, with branches clustered, parallel and erect, giving a narrow elongated habit (occasionally meaning branched reaching to the same height) (Stearn 1983).
