The type species (holotype) of the genus Audouinella is Audouinella miniata Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Colaconema daviesii (Dillwyn) Stegenga.

Type Information
Syntype localities: "One Marine Algae [probably Swansea, Wales]; Rev. Hugh Davies. Bantry Bay [Co Cork, Ireland]; Miss [Ellen] Hutchins. At Brighton [Sussex, England] Mr [William] Borrer; (Dillwyn 1809: 73) Lectotype: BM; (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 90) Notes: Dixon & Irvine (1977: 90) mention a lectotype at BM which was probably collected at Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales, where the Rev. Davies lived from 1801 (Wikipedia).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Usually occurs in the upper sublittoral in southern Australia but has been recorded from the lower eulittoral and from depths of 10 m (Womersley 1994: 52).
