This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chondracanthus acicularis (Roth) Fredericq.

Adjective B (Latin), acicular, i.e., narrow, stiff, pointed like a needle (Stearn 1983).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Epilithic, lower littoral and upper sublittoral in shelter and areas with some exposure to wave action; tolerant of sand cover; sometimes forming a dense turf (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 238).
