The type species (holotype) of the genus Ulva is Ulva lactuca Linnaeus.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Codium decorticatum (Woodward) M.Howe.

(Latin), deprived of bark, lacking a covering (Dawes & Mathieson 2008)
