The type species (holotype) of the genus Amphidinium is Amphidinium operculatum Claparède & Lachmann.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Apicoporus glaber (Hoppenrath & Okolodkov) Sparmann, Leander & Hoppenrath.
