The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chrysymenia is Chrysymenia ventricosa (J.V.Lamouroux) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Botryocladia pyriformis (Børgesen) Kylin.

Adjective B (Latin), pear-shaped (Brown 1946).
