This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Antithamnionella floccosa (O.F.Müller) Whittick.

Type locality: "De Norske fjorde" [Norwesgian fjord]; (Müller 1780: pl. 828) (Maggs & Hommersand 1993: 14) Notes: Lectotype: illustration in Flora danica (O.F. Müller 1780, pl. 828, fig. 1) selected by Athanasiadis in Maggs and Hommersand (1993: 14).
