The type species (holotype) of the genus Haslea is Haslea ostrearia (Gaillon) Simonsen.

Type information
[145112]Type locality: near the Biological Station (44º54'40" N, 35º12'05" E) of Karadag Natural Reserve, Crimea (Ukraine) (Gastineau et al. 2012: 472). Holotype: N.A. Davidovich, O.I. Davidovich, R. Gastineau and J.-L. Mouget; April 2008; biofilms from stones at a depth of 0.2-0.4 m. BM 101627 (Gastineau et al. 2012: 472). Notes: Syntype [Feodosiya Bay?]: BM 101628. The clone used for the holotype, NCC244, has been used for the SEM plate (figs 5-9).
