Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Synedra is Synedra balthica Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tabularia fasciculata (C.Agardh) D.M.Williams & Round.
Type Information
Type locality: Sabine River, Texas; (Desianti, Potapova & Beals 2015: 110) Holotype: fig. 160: August 1952; left bank, on root of Phragmites; ANSP; slide GC6527a (Desianti, Potapova & Beals 2015: 110, table 1) Notes: Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish, Sabine River, c. 100 yards above Intracoastal Waterway, from c. 25 yards above cypress grove to c. 150 yards below grove, west side of Cutoff Island (30.057011°N, 93.717454°W) in table 1 but Sabine River, Texas on p. 110 (Desianti et al. 2015).
