Nomenclatural note
Conferva intricata Clemente, the intended basionym cited by Cremades, is a later homonym of Conferva intricata Roth (q.v.) and thus illegitimate. The binomial Champia intricata must therefore be attributed to Cremades directly and must date from 1990, and is thus not priorable and is illefgitimae as it cites Chondria parvula C. Agardh as a synomym. Dawes & Mathieson (2008: 376) state that Champia intricata Cremades is a later homonym, but this is incorrect. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
