The type species (lectotype) of the genus Cystoseira is Cystoseira concatenata (Linnaeus) C.Agardh.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cystoseira spinosa var. tenuior (Ercegovic) M.Cormaci, G.Furnari, G.Giaccone, B.Scammacca, & D.Serio.
