The type species (holotype) of the genus Cheilosporum is Cheilosporum sagittatum (J.V.Lamouroux) Areschoug.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Alatocladia yessoensis (Yendo) P.W.Gabrielson, K.A.Miller & Martone.
