This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Amphorotia curvata D.M.Williams & G.Reid.

Type locality: China: Pearl R. delta, near Jiangmen city on west bank of Xi R.; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Pearl River borehole DZ1, Jianmen City, China (Wu & Flower, 2016).
