"Lomentaria ercegovicii, a species endemic in the Mediterranean Sea (Verlaque et al., 1977: 444), was published as replacement name for L. tenera Ercegovic [a species described from the island of Jabuka (Croatia) by Ercegovic (1956: 16)] whose name is illegitimate being a later homonym of L. tenera Kützing, a taxon not present in the Mediterranean Sea."
