Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Callithamnion is Callithamnion corymbosum (Smith) Lyngbye.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Callithamnion granulatum (Ducluzeau) C.Agardh.

Comments: the lectotype and the LD specimen are both annotated to indicate that they were collected by Carmichael at Staffa, not Appin as indicated in the Harvey treatment.
