The type species (holotype) of the genus Acrosorium is Acrosorium aglaophylloides Zanardini ex Kützing.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cryptopleura ramosa (Hudson) L.Newton.

In the Mediterranean, this is a "...misapplied name for Ac. venulosum [= Ac. ciliolatum]. See above at the beginning of this note. Such new combination was proposed by Boudouresque et al.
