Steentoft, Irvine & Bird (1991) examined the type of Fucus confervoides Linnaeus and concluded that it represented a species of Gracilariospsis. - (18 September 2010) - M.D. Guiry
Specimens reported as Fucus verrucosus, Fucus confervoides, Gracilaria verrucosa and Gracilaria confervoides - in fact, all terete Gracilaria - from the NE Atlantic and elsewhere require individual examination to determine whether they belong to Gracilaria or Gracilariopsis, and then a decision as to which species is in question. - (18 September 2010) - M.D. Guiry
