The type species (holotype) of the genus Phyllophora is Phyllophora rubens (Linnaeus) Greville.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Yonagunia maillardii (Montagne & Maillardet) Showe M.Lin, Y.-C.Chuang & De Cleck.
