This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ericaria funkii (Gerloff & Nizamuddin) Molinari & Guiry.

Taxonomic note
Verlaque et al. (1999) regard Cystoseira fukii as a separate species from Cystoseira jabukae. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
Distributional note
Comparison of specimens from the Balearic Islands, the Aeolian Archipelago, and Sicily with the holotype of Cystoseira fukii has shown that all previous reports of Cystoseira jabukae from the western Mediterranean and the Ionian Sea probably refer to this species (Verlaque et al., 1999). - (11 May 2006) - G.M.
