Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Goniolithon is Goniolithon papillosum (Zanardini ex Hauck) Foslie.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Neogoniolithon brassica-florida (Harvey) Setchell & L.R.Mason.
