Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Gracilaria is Gracilaria compressa (C.Agardh) Greville.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Meridionella obtusangula (Hooker f. & Harvey) Tonicelli, M.E.Croce & Hommersand.
