The type species (lectotype) of the genus Delesseria is Delesseria sanguinea (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Paraglossum salicifolium (Reinsch) Showe M.Lin, Fredericq & Hommersand.
