The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chaetomorpha is Chaetomorpha melagonium (F.Weber & D.Mohr) Kützing.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cladophoropsis javanica (Kützing) P.C.Silva.
