Type locality: Port Denison, Queensland, Australia; (De Clerck 2003: 164) Lectotype: LD; 49353 (De Clerck 2003: 164) Notes: De Clerck (2003) notes that the lectotype was designated by Womersley (1967: 208). Dictyota bifurca seems to be closely related to D. alternifida or D. dichotoma var. intricata and is in need of critical re-assessment.
