Type locality: "Amérique Méridionale Det. Richard et Pavon."; (Lamouroux 1816: 270) Notes: Lectotype: Lamouroux figures (1816: pl. IX [9]: fig. 4 "a" and "B") selected by Woelkerling, Harvey & Reviers (2015: 141) who consider it resonable to select both illustrations in Lamouroux's fig. 4.

Adjective (Latin), warty (Stearn 1983).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Almost entirely epilithic, occurring in shallow eulittoral pools or on rocks near low tide level (Womersley & Johansen in Womersley 1996: 307).
