The type species (lectotype) of the genus Areschougia is Areschougia laurencia (Hooker f. & Harvey) Harvey.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Erythroclonium sedoides (Harvey) Kylin.
Type Information
Lectotype locality: Fremantle, Western Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 329) Holotype: Clifton; TCD, Herb. Harvey; (Womersley 1994: 353) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Min-Thein & Womersley (1976: 81). According to Womersley (1994: 353) there is a probable isotype in MEL (44736).
