Type locality: "...de Wulfen ad mare Adriaticum" ; (Silva & al. 1996: 575) Lectotype (Tireste, Italy): Wulfe; WU; Coll. Wulfen 1261 (Athanasiadis 1996: 197) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Prud'homme van Reine (1982: 225). Womersley (1987: 166) gives the following data: Lectotype from Trieste Italy (Wulfen); neotype in WU.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), tendrilled, ending in a narrow curled or wavy appendage (Stearn 1983).
