Type species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Chondria is Chondria tenuissima (Withering) C.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Rhabdonia verticillata Harvey

[2819]Type locality: Georgetown, Tasmania (Silva & al. 1996: 335). Lectotype: TCD, Herb. Harvey (Womersley 1994: 349). Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Min-Thein & Womersley (1976: 45).
