The type species (holotype) of the genus Seirospora is Seirospora griffithsiana Harvey.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Aglaothamnion gaillonii (P.Crouan & H.Crouan) Halos.

"Gómez Garreta et al. (2001: 448) listed it among taxa inquirenda. Furnari et al. (2003: 221) erroneously reported it as a synonym of Seirospora interrupta, with a reference to a paper in which neither S. gaillonii nor any of its synonyms are cited." "S. granifera (Meneghini) De Toni [taxon inquirendum]. This new combination (based on Callithamnion graniferum) was proposed by De Toni (1903: 1348) who erroneously reported among its synonyms also Callithamnion apiculatum, C. clavellatum and C. seirospermum var. graniferum.
