Habitat note
A wide range of freshwater environments, but especially shallow ponds and slow-flowing streams with submerged macrophytes (Whitton in John et al. 2002). Silva & Pienaar (2000) note that the type species was originally described from a freshwater habitat (Geitler 1932), whilst D'Hont and Coppejans (1988) reported this species from a marine habitat. - (04 July 2012) - G.M.
